(Artificial Vs. Natural): Sun should always be over your shoulder, Have good back lighting, Clouds are a good thing.
Lighting
Divides a picture shot into 9 grids (Object should be in one of the middle corners of the grid), Move subject from the center of the picture.
Eliminate unnecessary items in the pictures background, Plain backgrounds are the best.
